Crothersville Police officers last week made arrests which sent four men to jail on a variety of charges.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, Chief of Police Matt Browning made a traffic stop on a vehicle after it was reported the driver was possibly intoxicated or sleepy.

The vehicle came to a stop at the Marathon gas station in Uniontown. Chief Browning smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a search.

Marijuana was located in the vehicle as well as a waxy substance that tested positive for THC. Pills that later were identified as a controlled substance were also located.

The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Lee Henson, 26, of Paris Crossing was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Browning transported him to Jackson County Jail

Shortly after 5 p.m. as Browning was returning to Crothersville from the jail he was nearly hit head on by another vehicle in the 2000 block south of State Road 39. Browning turned around his patrol vehicle and pulled over the vehicle whose driver, Ethan Elijah Spray, 27, of Scipio was found to be driving while suspended.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Settle arrived on scene to assist and located over 30 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Spray was arrested for driving while suspended with a prior conviction and possession of methamphetamine and taken to Jackson County Jail.

Around 7 p.m. that same day, Assistant Chief Jonathon Tabor made a traffic stop near the intersection of Walnut street and North Armstrong in Crothersville.

The driver of the vehicle, William Kendall, 51, of Scottsburg was found to be driving while suspended. During the stop Chief Browning arrived on scene and saw the front seat passenger remove something from his clothing and hide it in the vehicle.

Approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine was found hidden between the passenger seat and center console as well as additional powder found between the driver seat and center console.

The passenger was Billy Joe Dugard, 45, of North Vernon. A pipe was also found tucked into Dugard’s waistband. Both men were transported to the Jackson County Jail.

Crothersville Police charged William Kendall with driving while suspended with a prior conviction and possession of methamphetamine and Billy Dugard was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
