Being a non-communicative motorist resulted in an Austin woman now facing a variety of charges in Jackson County following a traffic stop.
On Monday, June 23, Crothersville Police Officer Zach Elliott observed a small green passenger car roll through a stop sign at the intersection of County Roads 1010 E and 500 S northwest of Crothersville. Following the vehicle he made a traffic stop in the 4000 block of US 31 near Retreat Road.

The driver of the vehicle was Lillie M. Eversole, 52, of the 1300 block of York Road in Austin.
Elliot reported in the probable cause affidavit, that Eversole “appeared to be under the influence of something and could not sit still,”
She provided the officer with her driver’s license and registration but told him she did not have insurance. Because of her fidgety nature, while writing her a citation, he contacted Indiana State Police for K-9 assistance, When the drug dog arrived it made a positive alert at the driver’s side door.
Searching the vehicle, Elliott located a syringe under the driver’s seat. Eversole told the officer that the syringe was not hers, and according to the court document told Elliott, “she does not use syringes… but had used methamphetamine hours before the traffic stop.”
After having her vehicle towed and releasing Eversole, Elliott said he had attempted unsuccessfully to contact her in the coming days concerning her knowledge of drug activity.
On July 8 Elliott located Eversole in Seymour and made a traffic stop on Tipton Street near Tractor Supply. The officer learned that Eversole had blocked his phone number.
Placing her in custody, Elliott and his K9 Bora conducted a free air sweep around the vehicle. The drug trained dog alerted at the driver’s side door.
According to Elliott, while searching the vehicle he located a mirror above the driver’s seat that had a white residue on it that tested positive for methamphetamine. Also found in the vehicle was a prescription bottle that didn’t belong to Eversole containing Furosemide (Lasix), a prescription diuretic.
Elliott transported Eversole to Jackson County Jail where she was booked in at 8:06 p.m. facing charges of driving without financial responsibility, possession of a syringe, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a legend drug.
