A good portion of southern Indiana is in the path of a total solar eclipse on Monday afternoon, April 8, and hundreds or thousands of tourists are expected to visit the area to witness the event.
A solar eclipse is when the moon passes in front of the sun blocking its light. Many portions of the US will experience a partial eclipse but 13 states, including some counties in southern Indiana are in the path of a total solar eclipse.
The path of totality is 112 miles and will last about four minutes.
However, viewing the eclipse is totally weather dependant. With April’s traditional cloudy, raining weather odds of a clear viewing sky are roughly one in three.
Crothersville Community Schools will not have classes on April 8 calling it an E-Learning day…no doubt the E stands for eclipse.
The Crothersville High School Athletic Department is hosting a day-long series of events at the school being billed as Eclipse Fest.
