The Crothersville School Board last Monday, April 25, unanimously hired local native Chrystal Street as the school corporation’s new superintendent. She begins were tenure July 1.
She is no stranger to the school or community having graduated from CHS in 1989 then working as a teacher, curriculum and testing coordinator before taking on principal jobs first at Medora and currently at Brownstown Elementary a post she has held since 2016.
The new school superintendent was one of eight applicants for the job.
The board was to have considered approval of Street’s three-year contract during a special meeting this past Monday evening. If approved, Street’s annual base salary will be $105,000, and the contract will run through June 30, 2025. It will include a work year of 240 days with annual entitlement of 20 vacation days and 18 general leave days for the first year and 15 days in each succeeding year.
Also, the board would pay all but $1 per contract year toward the cost of a single or family medical insurance program for health, dental and/or vision and the same for the cost of a term life insurance policy.
She spent 14 years with Crothersville Community School Corp as a classroom teacher, a testing coordinator, a curriculum director. She then left her alma mater to be principal of Medora Community School Corporation, a position she held for two years.
Street replaces Terry Goodin who retired earlier this year after 25 years at the school helm.
