The Crothersville FFA Floriculture team traveled to Central Nine Career Center in Greenwood, Indiana on Saturday April 23, for the State Floriculture competition. Members who participated in this event were Noah Hoskins, Deven Lemen, Madison Isenhower, and Kalynda Hoevener.
They had to participate in many individual events as well as a team event which ranged from a plant ID where members had to identify plant specimens, to a job interview where the participants had to apply and interview for a listed position. The team placed overall fourth in the state which had over 15 teams competing. Lemen placed fourth in the State individually.
Area residents can purchase plants grown by these award winning students at the school greenhouse. According to Ag instructor Linda Begley there are lots of vegetable and a few floral bedding plants available. The school greenhouse is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Now through next Tuesday, May 24, all plants are 50% off.
