Crothersville High School Art Club students presented a restored historic landmark sign that marks the path of Morgan’s Raid to Preservation Alliance Inc. on Oct. 2.
Confederate General John Hunt Morgan raided parts of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio; in Scott County specifically he passed through Vienna and Lexington.
The sign’s location is in Vienna along Highway 356 and was damaged by a car crash, leading to the paint restoration of the sign.
The restoration of the sign was initiated by Curtis White, who started the project at Austin High School and made it to Crothersville High School when White began teaching at Crothersville.
White said during the presentation that it allowed the students to be able to experience history and “to know your history is to find something your proud of”.
