A Perry County man who was found guilty of child molesting after a week-long trail last November was sentenced to 60 years in prison last Thursday by Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount.

Randall Crossley, 67, of the Ohio River community of Tell City was sentenced for his molestation of two young children several years ago.

Crossley also has a pending case in Perry Circuit Court where he faces five counts of child molesting.

The Scott County trial and convictions stem from a delayed disclosure of child sexual abuse from two young girls back in 2020, Scott County Prosecutor Owns said. According to court records, the victims were eight and 10 years old at the time of the molestation.

“The abuse had occurred several months prior to them coming forward. The bravery and honesty of these girls to come forward and tell their story resulted in justice being done,” Owens said.

According to court records, Crossley was an occasional caregiver whom the young girls called “Papaw”.

After the girls came forward, the Scott County office of the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) conducted child forensic interviews with the girls and did an assessment on the allegations. After the interview, DCS turned the case over to the Indiana State Police for further investigation.

Based on the age of the victims at the time of the crimes, Crossley was also determined to be a credit restricted felon, which means that he will serve at least 85% of his sentence in prison before being eligible for any type of release, according to the prosecutor.

Crossley was also found to be a sex or violent offender and will be on the Sex Offender Registry for life.

“Based upon the age of Crossley, this sentence will assure that he is not able to harm or victimize anyone ever again outside of prison walls”, Owens added.
