After a week-long trial jurors, returned guilty verdicts on all counts against a Tell City man charged with three counts of child molesting and child solicitation.

Randall Crossley, 67, faces a minimum 20 years in prison, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens, but could face up to 156 years when he is sentenced Jan. 7 before Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount,

The trial and convictions stem from a delayed disclosure of child sexual abuse from two young girls back in 2020, Owns said.

“The abuse had occurred several months prior to them coming forward. The bravery and honesty of these girls to come forward and tell their story resulted in justice being done,” Owens said.

After the girls came forward, the Scott County office of the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) conducted child forensic interviews with the girls and did an assessment on the allegations. After the interview, DCS turned the case over to the Indiana State Police for further investigation.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Amanda Herald and First Trial Deputy Mark Kiesler handled the prosecution and trial, Owens said.

Earlier in November three out-of-county people were sentenced to prison in Scott Circuit Court.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, Kayla Burns, 28, of Louisville, KY was convicted of conspiracy to deal in a narcotic drug and sentenced to six years to be served in the Indiana Department of Correction.

This case stemmed from jail staff receiving a suspicious package in the mail. Burns, and two inmates were discovered to be part of a conspiracy to bring drugs into the Scott County Jail.

On Friday, Nov. 15, Aaron Boyles, 34, of Indianapolis, was convicted of felony charges of robbery and possession of methamphetamine sentenced 12 years with he Indiana Department of Correction.

In this case, the Boyles entered into an unlocked vehicle. The owner attempted to prevent this from occurring, Boyles used the vehicle as a weapon to throw the owner to the ground, causing him injury. Officers with the Austin Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Department located the stolen vehicle within minutes of the robbery. After a high-speed chase, the Defendant wrecked the vehicle and was immediately apprehended in which officers located over 20 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, Justin Lee Smith, 34, of Clarksville, was convicted of burglary and sentenced to 10 years with six years of the sentence to be served in prison and four years suspended to probation.

This case stemmed from Smith breaking into a residence of another. The victim was able to contact law enforcement for help who was able to immediately locate and apprehend the Smith. Additionally, a year of probation in a prior matter was revoked and is to be served in the Indiana Department of Correction, Owens said.
