As your parents begin to age, it may become necessary for you to step in and help them in their day-to-day life. You may need to handle their finances, determine their healthcare, or make decisions they can no longer make for themselves. You may find yourself having to cope with a situation that neither you nor your parents have prepared for. Most people put off dealing with these issues until it is too late.
Schneck Foundation and Jackson County Bank are hosting Changing Places to address issues that may arise when your parents need you the way you’ve needed them. This special program is designed for both parents and adult children to create an awareness of the many issues related to caring for aging parents.
Attorney Lora Mount, Voelz, Reed, and Mount, LLC, will speak on advance directives including living wills, appointment of a healthcare representative, power of attorney, and more. She will also discuss the myths of Medicaid and eligibility guidelines.
Changing Places will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, 6-8 p.m., at the Mid America Science Park in Scottsburg. Participants are invited to start the evening with a complimentary dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m.
