The Indiana Department of Transportation will begin alternating lane closures on State Road 135 to repair the bridge decking over the Muscatatuck River at the Jackson-Washington County line.
Beginning this week crews will begin work.
Alternating lane closures will allow for a bridge deck overlay project and bridge maintenance work. One lane of traffic will remain open in the work zone. Traffic flow will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal.
This work is expected to last through November, depending on the weather.
INDOT also announced daily road closures for State Road 256 in Scott, Washington and Jackson Counties.
Crews will begin daily road closures on State Road 256 near Austin. Daily road closures will occur between I-65 and State Road 39.
Daily road closures will allow for bridge approach paving and repairs. Closures will occur beginning at 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. daily. This work is expected to take a week to complete, depending on the weather.
The official detour for this project is U.S. 31 to State Road 250. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.
