Wm. Mark Norman, President and CEO of TPB Bancorp and The Peoples Bank announced the appointment of Robert ‘Bob’ M. Branaman to serve the remaining term of Ralph L. Spurgeon who retired from the Board of Directors on December 31, 2016 as Director Emeritus. Branaman received the oath of office on Monday, Jan. 9.
Spurgeon has been in the banking industry since September 1958, where he started at First National Bank and has been with The Peoples Bank since the merge of First National Bank and Brownstown Loan & Trust Company in 1965. Spurgeon and his wife of 66 years, Vivian, reside in Brownstown. Together, they had three children; Jill Weber, Paul Spurgeon, and Laura Lamb, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Branaman began his employment with The Peoples Bank in December 1978 as IT Manager. He was promoted to Cashier and Vice President in 1988 and was promoted to his current position as CFO and Executive Vice President in 2005. He is also the Treasurer of TPB Bancorp and serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors.
Branaman is a graduate of Medora High School and attended Indiana University and Liberty University. He is a past charter member of the Jackson County Industrial Development Corporation and served as a member of the Medora Community School Board of Trustees for 14 years.
He and his wife, Janie, reside north of Medora and he has one son, Chris.
