Registrations are now being taken for the Indiana “Master Naturalist” class that will be held at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge on Wednesday evenings in March and April. The class will be held from 6-9:30 pm at the Refuge Visitor Center and will be sponsored by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the non-profit support group of Muscatatuck NWR.
Course instructors will be experts on plants, animals, birds, and other natural history topics. Course topics will include birds, mammals, wetlands, botany, tree identification, invasive plants, reptiles and amphibians, the use of compass and maps, geology, fossils, and public lands.
Participants who attend 6 of the 8 course sessions and complete volunteer work will receive a “Master Naturalist” certificate and a pin. A $35 fee is charged to pay for course materials and advance registration is required.
