The City of Austin is offering six days for Austin city residents to dispose at no cost unwanted household items that would not normally be picked up for free during regular trash pickup routes.
The location to dispose of items will be at the Street-Sanitation Department located at the dead end of South 5th Street off of York Road.
This free opportunity is only available to City of Austin residents. No contractors will be permitted.
The six free days to dispose will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Nov. 7, 8, and 9 and the following week Nov. 14, 15, and 16. Hours to dispose will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m, each day.
There will be a list of unaccepted items posted at the Street-Sanitation Department or residents can call the Mayor’s office at 812-794-6646 Option 1 with any questions.
Anyone who is elderly and/or disabled can contact the Mayor’s office to schedule a pick up for unwanted items they are not able to take to the Street-Sanitation Department and we will assist those citizens, if possible. Scheduled pickups will only be for the elderly or disabled who have no means of transportation to get their unwanted items delivered and only if we have availability to do so.
