Two Austin residents were jailed on possession of controlled substance charges after Indiana State Police troopers stopped them on US 31 near the Clark-Scott County line.
ISP officers stopped the green 2002 Toyota around 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, on a routine traffic stop.
As troopers began talking to the driver, James D. Bowles, 28, of 304 South Lawnview Drive in Austin, and the passenger, Brenda Morris, 56, of 218 South Lawnview Drive in Austin their stories didn’t coincide.
A search of the occupants and vehicle yielded Opana, a Schedule II Controlled Substance.
Bowles and Morris were both arrested and charged with dealing in a schedule ii controlled substance, possession of a schedule ii controlled substance, and maintaining a common nuisance.
Bowles and Morris were incarcerated in the Clark County Jail.
