A 62-year old Austin man was struck and killed by a semi on Thursday, Dec. 29 on I-65 in Clark County. Larry W. Caudill was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls, ISP investigators found that Caudill was attempting to run west across I-65 near the 2.5 mile marker when he was struck by a southbound semi-tractor trailer around 8:30 p.m.

The driver of the truck immediately stopped and called authorities.

Police do not believe Caudill was a stranded motorist and are unsure as to why he was attempting to cross the interstate on foot.

Alcohol or drug use was not a factor regarding the semi-truck driver, Huls reported.
