A cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led to the arrest of a Scott County man for possession of child pornography on Friday, Sept. 2.
Detectives with the Indiana State Police – Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force in Sellersburg began an investigation early last month after receiving a cyber tip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to ISP Sgt. Carey Huls. The cyber tip report indicated that a specific account was possibly used to transmit child pornography images or video files, Huls said.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers with the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force a search of a residence on Spicer Drive in the southwest portion of Austin.
As a result of the investigation and search, the Scott County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant for Craig Dalton Winchester, 27, of Austin. Officers from the Austin Police Department located and arrested Craig Winchester on the warrant Friday.
Winchester is charged with three counts of child exploitation and one count of possession of child pornography, all felonies.
Officers from the Austin Police Department transported Winchester to Scott County Jail shortly after 6 p.m. Sept. 2. Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount set Winchester’s bond at $100,000 full cash bond.
