The communities of Austin and Crothersville will welcome the holiday season this Saturday, Dec. 6, with a variety of seasonal events.

Crothersville will kick off the day with a biscuits and gravy breakfast at Hamacher Hall, 211 E. Howard Street just east of the stoplight with serving from 9 a.m. to noon

Carolers at the Community Christmas Tree at stoplight will perform beginning at 5:15 p.m. followed by the town Christmas parade at 6 p.m.

The day’s events will close out where it began with cookies & hot chocolate with Santa at Hamacher Hall at 6:30 p.m. and a fundraising holiday auction at Hamacher Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Austin residents will enjoy a day of Christmas cheer with this year’s annual Christmas Parade featuring a community Open House following the parade.  The parade will begin at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

The Parade route will start on West Frontage Road located in the Industrial Park along I-65 continuing on to State Road 256 the east to the Jennings Township Volunteer Fire Department located west of Austin City Hall.

Santa Claus will come to town in this year’s parade joined by Mrs. Claus, other floats, and parade attractions.  There are many spots along Frontage Road and State Road 256 for residents to watch the parade.    

Adults and children alike will enjoy the sounds of the Christmas season during the parade with a marching performance by the AHS band.  In addition, there will be musical entertainment during the Open House at the fire department following the parade.
