After a flurry of opening week filings, the number of candidates throwing their hat into the ring has slowed to a trickle as of last Friday…possibly prompted by inclement weather.
Of local interest, incumbent Republican Roger Teipen filed to seek re-election to the Vernon Township Board.
Elsewhere, another primary race has developed when Ellis G. McCormick filed to seek the Republican nomination for Jackson Township Trustee. He is challenging long-time incumbent Bill Marsh for the GOP nomination. The winner would face Democrat John S. Burkhart in the fall general election.
Incumbent Democrat Jerry Otte filed to seek another term as Hamilton Townsship Trustee.
Candidate filings will continue through the deadline of noon on Feb. 7 in the Jackson County Clerkâs office. The deadline to register to vote is Monday, April 7.
