Scott County law enforcement authroities are investigating what is apparently a murder-suicide. At 10:22 a.m. on Saturday, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a possible suicidal subject at 829 East Harrod Road near Austin. When a deputy arrived he was met by family members at the home.
The family members told the deputy of a probable death inside the home. After the deputy entered the home he noticed a deceased person. The deputy contacted crime scene investigators from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg to come to the scene.
ISP detectives and crime scene investigators entered the home discovering three bodies located inside.
The Scott County Coroner’s Office identified the deceaseds as Claude Campbell Sr., 57; his wife, Connie Campbell, 58; and their son, Claude Campbell Jr., 35, all of 829 East Harrod Road, Austin.
Scott County Sheriff John Lizenby said that Claude Campbell Jr. shot his mother then his father sometime on Friday. When family members checked on their welfare, the younger Campbell went into a bedroom and while family members call for authorities, a shot was heard from the bedroom.
Law enforcement reported that the bodies were located in different rooms within the home and it appeared that all three sustained gunshot wounds.
Auhorities are continuing their investigation.
