To celebrate birds and nature the public is invited to Wings Over Muscatatuck, the annual spring migratory bird festival at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge east of Seymour, Saturday April 25, 7:30am-4:00pm, hosted by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.
Adults and children will enjoy this free, fun day at the Refuge, filled with birding, nature, children’s and art activities.
There will be a Sandhill Crane program, Live Rapture presentation, Kids Bird House building, Bird Cake Walk and more. Shop the native plant sale, silent auction and Visitor Center book/gift shop. Explore spring at the Refuge, hiking one of its nature trails including those fun for kids and handicapped accessible.
Artists are invited to bring their art supplies and join noted artist, Maureen Pesta, for a Plein Art Paint-Out. Artists of all skill levels can create a work of art outdoors in natural light capturing the Refuge’s natural beauty.
This year at Wings, purchase a delicious lunch of smoked wings, pulled pork and hot dogs cooked onsite by the Refuge Staff.
