Indiana State Police troopers arrested a Scott County man Friday, March 20, on multiple felony charges related to the sexual abuse of two minors.

Robert Stewart

Robert Stewart, 68, of Lexington was taken into custody without incident Friday at his residence, when troopers from the ISP Sellersburg Post served an arrest warrant issued by the Scott County Circuit Court, according to ISP Sft. Carey Huls.

The investigation began last month after an Indiana Department of Child Services family case manager reported allegations of inappropriate sexual contact to ISP Detective Rob Caudill. Detective Caudill, working with DCS personnel, conducted the investigation, which included a forensic interview of the victims at a local child advocacy center. Following the initial investigation, Detective Caudill provided all information to the Scott County Prosecutor for review.

Following review of the evidence, the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office obtained the warrant charging Stewart with 12 felony counts of child molesting.

Stewart was booked in to the Scott County Jail at 2:10 p.m., where he is being held without bond pending initial court appearance.
