NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE 

ADOPTING AND ENACTING A NEW CODE OF ORDINANCES,

INCLUDING REPEAL AND AMENDMENT OF EXISTING ORDINANCES,

FOR THE TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, INDIANA

Taxpayers, property owners, and other interested parties in the Town of Crothersville, Indiana (“Town”) are hereby notified that the Town Council adopted an ordinance establishing a new code of ordinances on February 3, 2026.  The ordinance contains fines and penalties for violations.  The effective date of the ordinance is February 4, 2026. 

ORDINANCE NO. 2026 – 1

An Ordinance adopting a new code of ordinances for the Town of Crothersville, Indiana

WHEREAS, The Town of Crothersville, Indiana, hereby establishes and adopts a new code of ordinances. 

NOW, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE  TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, INDIANA:  

An ordinance setting forth a new code of ordinances, including repeal and amendments of existing ordinances, was passed by the Town Council on February 3, 2026, as Ordinance Number 2026-1.  The new code of ordinances contains fines and penalties. 

ADOPTED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL this 3rd day of February, 2026.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 

REGARDING NEW SEWER RATES AND CHARGES FOR THE TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, INDIANA

Property owners, ratepayers, and other interested parties in or served or to be served by the utilities of the Town of Crothersville, Indiana (“Town”) are hereby notified that a public hearing will be held by the Town Council, at the Town Hall, 111 East Howard Street, Crothersville, Indiana 47229, commencing at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.  The purpose of the hearing is to consider the establishment of new sewer rates and charges for the users of the Town’s sewer works.  At the hearing, interested persons will have the opportunity to be heard concerning the sewer rates and charges to be established by Crothersville Town Ordinance 2026-3.  

The complete text of the ordinance is available for examination and copying at the office of the Clerk-Treasurer at the Town Hall of the Town of Crothersville, 111 East Howard Street, Crothersville, Indiana 47229, during normal business hours and will be available at the public hearing.

At the March 3, 2026 meeting, the Town Council shall consider, and may take final action on, the proposed ordinance.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ON ORDER ISSUED PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 155 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES (the “Unsafe Building Ordinance”) OF THE CITY OF SALEM, INDIANA (the “City”) AND INDIANA CODE 36-7-9-1 ET. SEQ. (the “Unsafe Building Law”) REGARDING 304 1/2 S. MILL STREET, SALEM, INDIANA 47167 (the “Property”).

The Building Inspector for the City has determined the Property to be an Unsafe Premises due to the presence of excessive trash, debris, and hazardous materials. THE BUILDING INSPECTOR ORDERED THE CURRENT OWNER OF THE PROPERTY TO REMOVE EXCESS TRASH, DEBRIS, AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FROM THE PROPERTY (the “Order”).  PLEASE BE ADVISED, A HEARING  ON THE ORDER WILL BE HELD BEFORE THE CITY’S PLAN COMMISSION (the “Commission”), THE DESIGNATED HEARING AUTHORITY UNDER THE UNSAFE BUILDING ORDINANCE FOR ENFORCEMENT MATTERS UNDER THE UNSAFE BUILDING LAW, ON THE 2nd DAY OF MARCH 2026, AT 6:00 P.M. (ET) IN THE CITY’S COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT SALEM CITY HALL, 201 EAST MARKET STREET, SALEM, INDIANA 47167 (the “Hearing”).

If the Commission affirms the Order herein contained, and if the Order is not complied with within 10 days following such affirmation, pursuant to I.C. 36-7-9-10, the Building Inspector may cause the action herein required to be completed at the sole cost of the owner of the Property. The Building Inspector may seek monetary civil penalties or may seek a court order authorizing the remedial work to be performed by the Building Inspector or otherwise enforcing the remedies set forth in the Unsafe Building Law.

Pursuant to I.C. 36-7-9-27(a), if any Interested Persons transfer their respective interest in the Property prior to the completion of the action set forth in the Order, such Interested Persons shall supply full information regarding the Order to such transferee and, within five (5) days of such transfer, provide notice to the Building Inspector of such transfer, the name, address, and telephone number of the transferee, and a copy of the instrument effectuating such transfer. Failure to comply with the foregoing requirement may create liability under I.C. 36-7-9-27(b). If you have any questions, contact the Building Inspector at 201 E.
