Following a month long investigation, a Crothersville woman was charged with identity theft and fraud in Jackson Circuit Court last week.

Savannah Dawn Wilson 33, of the 400 block of East Walnut Street faces felony charge of identity deception and a lesser misdemeanor charge of fraud against a utility.
According to Crothersville Police Officer Jacob Sharp, he was contacted on Sept. 22 by Kayden Wilson of Goshen that a Duke Energy account in his name was opened by his aunt, Savannah Wilson.
Kayden Wilson told Officer Sharp that he has never lived in Crothersville and became aware of the fraudulent account while attempting to purchase a vehicle. According to the probable cause affidavit, during the credit check process he discovered a delinquent Duke Energy electric bill of $666 that had gone to collections under his name.
The electric utility account was in his name from Nov. 2024 through Feb. 2025 the court document read.
Officer Sharp went to Savannah Wilson’s residence and spoke with her former boyfriend who said she had moved out earlier in September.
According to the court document, shortly after the officer left the Walnut Street rental, 19 year-old Kayden Wilson contacted him again and informed the officer that Savannah had sent him a series of text messages that he interpreted as threatening in nature.
According to the court document Savannah had texted her nephew “You better NEVER speak to me again, Ungrateful ass. Couldn’t even give me a week. You just wait Kayden.”
The Crothersville Police Officer submitted his findings to Jackson County Prosecutor Lynsey Fleetwood who filed charges of fraud and identity deception on Sept. 25. The next day a warrant was issued for Wilson’s arrest.
Crothersville Police apprehended Wilson on Tuesday, Oct. 28, and she was booked into Jackson County Jail at 9:21 p.m. She was released from custody at 3:38 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 after posting a $500 cash bond.
