Driving erratically and running a stop sign in Austin landed a Crothersville woman in Scott County Jail facing drug charges.

Heather N. Bailey, 40, of the 400 block of E. Main Street has been charged in Scott Circuit court with three drug related felonies: possession of methamphetamine with a prior conviction, possession of cocaine with a prior conviction, and possession of a syringe.

Around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Austin Police officer Logan Barger was on patrol when he observed Bailey’s Toyota SUV roll past a stop sign at the intersection of Broadway Street & 3rd but come to a complete stop in the middle of the intersection. At the intersection of Broadway & Church Street, Bailey failed to stop, according to Barger.

After pulling her over, the police officer reported smelling marijuana coming from her vehicle.

Barger had her step out of her vehicle so he could conduct a search.

At the scene Officers Anthony White and Josh Vires saw Bailey remove what appeared to be a syringe from her right front pocket and place it in the rear of her shorts.

Austin officers summoned APD Officer Rebecca Hollan to the scene to search Bailey.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Officer Hollan retrieved a capped unused syringe from the back of Bailey’s shorts. The officer also noticed a bulge in (Bailey’s) pants in the left groin area. Officer Hollan located another syringe there and clear plastic baggie in her right groin area containing methamphetamine as well as a baggie in her right breast area containing cocaine as well as Suboxone and Xanax.

Bailey was booked into Scott County Jail at 6:53 p.m.

Scott County Magistrate Allison T. Frazier set Bailey Bond at $35,000.
