On Monday, March 3, the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office convicted Christopher Greenlee, 53, of Washington, IN of burglary and cruelty to an animal for offenses he committed in January 2024. Scott Circuit Court Magistrate Alison Frazier sentenced him to ten years in prison for his crimes.
According to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens, the victim of this burglary returned home on that January night in 2024 to find signs that someone had been on and in their property. An investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office showed that while on the property, Greenlee had harmed the family’s dog and had taken a vehicle from the property. Authorities found Greenlee driving that vehicle in Hamilton County, Ohio.
Greenlee was originally charged in Scott Circuit Court with auto theft, residential entry, torturing an animal, cruelty to an animal, and burglary.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement learned that prior to these offenses, Greenlee had been traveling on interstate 65 when his vehicle was involved in a traffic accident in Scott County rendering it inoperable. In Scott County without a vehicle, Greenlee made the decision to commit these invasive and cruel crimes, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens.
“This type of behavior cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,” said Owens.
