Everyone who enjoys looking at birds is invited to participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
Participants will gather at the refuge Visitor Center at 7:30 a.m. and be assigned to a group to do the “bird inventory” of the refuge.
“The bird count is a great way for inexperienced birders to learn from experts and participants should count on being outside at least half a day,” said refuge spokesperson Donna Stanley.
A hot lunch will be provided to volunteers working the count by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the non-profit refuge friends group.
