Two out-of-state people were charged with drug offenses after a late night traffic stop in northwest Scott County.

Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Kacey Reschar and his K-9 partner Karma were on patrol around 10:42 p.m. on Monday, May 6, on Thomastown Road when he spotted a blue passenger car driving east and weaving across the roadway. Reschar said as the vehicle approached the intersection of Thomastown Road and Finley Firehouse Road the vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign.

After he pulled the vehicle over, the driver was identified as Markin F. Galusha, 56, of Nebraska and her passenger, Nathan H. Green, 43, of Hopkinsville, KY.

The deputy placed the pair in his patrol vehicle while his K9 Karma did and air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. According to the probable cause affidavit, Karma gave a positive indication of the presence of drugs.

When confronted with the dog’s drug assessment, Green said he had a joint in a cigarette pack and a baggie of methamphetamine, according to the court document.

Searching the vehicle, the deputy found the cigarette pack with a rolled marijuana cigarette along with a plastic baggie with a white crystal substance near the passenger seat when Green had been sitting.

Authorities found a glass pipe with some white crystal like residue in Green’s pocket.

When questioned Galusha acknowledged she knew the joint was in the vehicle because she and Green had smoked marijuana earlier that evening.

Galusha was booked into Scott County Jail at 11:33 p.m. on a charge of maintaining a common nuisance.

Green was booked into the jail at 11:52 p.m. charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and visiting a common nuisance.

On Thursday, May 9, Circuit Court Magistrate Alison T. Frazier set Galusha’s bond at $10,000 and Green’s bond at $15,000.
