Icy road conditions contributed to a three vehicle crash on I-65 at the Jackson-Scoptt County Line south of Crothersville Saturday morning.
Around 7:10 a.m., troopers from the Indiana State Police Posts at Seymour and Sellersburg responded to a crash involving three cars at the Jackson County and Scott County line in the northbound lane of Interstate 65.
Police reported that Charles E. Hoagland, 63, of North Vernon, was travelling northbound on Interstate 65. When he entered onto the bridge over the Muscatatuck River at the Jackson-Scott County line he lost control of his gray 2006 Toyota pickup truck. He spun and came to a stop after crashing into the bridge railing on the west bound side of the roadway.
After he stopped, a silver 2005 Chrysler mini-van driven by Linda Wogomon, 53, of Bremen, came onto the bridge and lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the Toyota pickup truck.
After this crash had occurred, Hoagland exited his vehicle. As he was out of his vehicle, a tan 2010 Kia Sedona driven by Michael N. Greene, 34, of Columbus, GA came onto the bridge and lost control of his vehicle striking Hoagland.
Hoagland was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were three people injured in the 2005 Chrysler mini-van, one seriously, and one person slightly injured in the 2010 Kia Sedona.
