The Jackson County Commissioners have scheduled a certificate sale for three properties with unpaid taxes for Friday, March 17. All three of the parcels are located in the town of Crothersville.
The minimum price on each property is $200, according to a legal notice found on Page 2 of the print issue of the Times and online at www.crothersvilletimes.com.
Jackson County Auditor Roger D. Hurt said the three properties have gone through two delinquent property tax sales without receiving the minimum bid.
“Currently, none of the properties is generating any taxes for the town, school, township, and county,” said Hurt. “A certificate sale is a way to get properties in new owner’s hands to begin generating taxes.”
The three properties offered on the certificate sale include:
•302 W Walnut St owned by Louis B & Leah Rusch
•105 Marshall Drive owned by Roscoe & Kayla Peacock
•506 S Park Street owned by David M. Coombs
The sale will take place in the second floor courtroom of the historic courthouse in Brownstown beginning at 10 a.m. Indiana law prohibits a person who owes delinquent taxes, special assessments, penalties, interest, or costs directly attributable to a prior tax sale, from purchasing tracts or items of real property at a tax sale. the legal notice reads.
