On Thursday, Aug. 18, three men received prison sentences in Scott Circuit Court, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens.
William A. Cummings, 51, of Scottsburg pled guilty to the burglary to a storage unit and possession of methamphetamine. Judge Jason Mount sentenced him to a total of six years with two of those years served in prison and four years supervised on probation.
David R. Campbell, 32, of Austin pled guilty to dealing in methamphetamine. He was sentenced to six years with four of those years served in prison followed by two years on supervised probation.
Matthew Goodman, 31, of Salem admitted to committing new criminal offenses in Clark County while being on probation in Scott County. According to Owens, he admitted this violation “open to the Court” which means that a hearing was conducted where both the State and the defense offered arguments and then the Court determined the sentence.
Judge Mount sentenced Goodman to serve the remainder of his revoked probation in prison for two years and them placed him back on probation for two years after his release from prison.
“The Scott County Prosecutor’s Office and local law enforcement are committed to seeing criminal offenders be held accountable for their actions, and we will continue to work with the agencies in our community to see that it is done,” said Owens.
