The City of Austin will herald in the holiday season with a day of Christmas cheer with next month’s annual Christmas Parade concluding with a community Open House.

The Austin Christmas Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4.

The Parade route will start on West Frontage Road located in the Industrial Park along I-65 head south to State Road 256 then east to the Grace Covenant Church of God Family Life Center across from Austin City Hall.

Santa Claus will come to town in this year’s parade.  He will be joined by other floats and parade attractions, city officials said. “There are many spots along Frontage Road and State Road 256 for residents to watch the parade.

Adults and children alike will enjoy the sounds of the Christmas season during the parade with a marching performance by the Austin High School band.  In addition, there will be musical entertainment during the Open House  at the church following the parade.

“The parade is sure to offer the usual set of participants including a host of classic cars, the AHS band and a number of local church and civic groups,” officials said.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the parade route and the city’s holiday tradition.
