Both the City of Austin and Town of Crothersville will be holding a public hearing to gauge interest in a grant program to assist low-income owner-occupied residences.
Eligible no-cost repairs that can be done under the grant include roofing, HVAC replacement, lighting & electrical upgrades, water heater replacement and ADA accessibility.
To be eligible the single family conventionally built home must be owned and occupied by the person seeking the repairs.
Homes must be inside the town/city limits of the respective community and on a permanent foundation. The home must be insured.
Most mobile homes are not eligible. A home that is being bought on contract is not eligible.
Owners must meet the following annual gross income guidelines:
1 person $37,450
2 people $42,800
3 people $48,150
4 people $53,450
5 people $57,750
Homeowner interested in applying should plan to attend the public hearing where program guidelines will be discussed.
The public hearing in Crothersville will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11 at Crothersville Town Hall meeting room.
The public hearing in Austin will be a 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, at the Austin City Hall council room.
Application will be available at the respective town/city hall prior to the meetings as well as at the public hearing.
