A father and son out fishing turned into a tragedy last Wednesday evening. Around 5:30 p.m. July 7, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to South Lake Road in Scottsburg for the report of a juvenile pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near the Scottsburg Lake.
Kayden Bibb, 10-year-old of Otisco was struck by a 2007 Ford Taurus being driven by a 17-year-old driver.
Young Bibb was transported to the Scott Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle was not hurt from the crash.
According to the boy’s father, Brent Bibb, the impact sent his son about 60 feet into the water.
According to Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin, the Indiana State police are conducting a crash reconstruction of the scene.
Once completed, the investigation report will be submitted to the Scott County Prosecutor’s office to determine if charges will be filed, it was reported.
Kayden Lamont Bibb, 10, of Otisco died Wednesday July 7, 2021 in Scott County from injuries after being struck by an automobile.
He was born on April 9, 2011, in New Albany and was going into the 5th grade at Jonathan Jennings Elementary School in Charlestown.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Baird of Sellersburg; his father, Brent Bibb of Otisco; three sisters, Jordan Bibb of Otisco, Willow Baird of New Washington, and Aliyah Martin of Jeffersonville; a brother, Carter Baird of New Washington; grandparents, Tina Gladden of Otisco, Lewie Bibb of Clarksville, Tina Baird of New Albany, and David Baird of Kentucky.
Life Celebration Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday July 16, from Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 14, from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 15, from noon to 8 p.m., and after 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
