Deputy Donut is supported by, F.O.P. President, Marvin Richey, Sheriff Jerry Goodin, Scottsburg Police Chief, Scott Zellers and Austin Police Chief, Shawn Hurt.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office along with inmates of the Scott County Jail, The Concrete Lady and Watson’s Signs and Graphics teamed up to raise funds for the ‘The Refuge’, a home in Austin to house children in crisis from Scott and surrounding counties.
The Concrete Lady of Clarksville donated the concrete pig and Watson’s Signs and Graphics donated the Sheriff’s Office stickers. The pig’s Scott County Sheriff’s Office Uniform was painted by one the Scott County inmates and other jail inmates put up the fence and laid the paving stones. No taxpayer money was used for this project.
“Mo taxpayer dollars were used for this project,” said Sheriff Jerry Goodin, “I bet we are the only jail/police department to have a concrete pig in front of their headquartersl. “This is one time where someone can call a police officer a pig and everyone will laugh.
The pig’s name is ‘Deputy Donut’, another common reference to the eating habits of police officers.
Goodin said anyone can stop by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office to have your picture taken, look at the unbelievable artwork by the inmate, or just put a donation in the donation box beside “Deputy Donut.” All of the donations go directly to The Refuge
‘Deputy Donut’ will only be available for photos and visits for a limited time. After the fund raiser is over ‘Deputy Donut’ will be given to the “The Refuge” to do with as they wish.
Sheriff Goodin wants visitors to post their photo on all social media and challenge others to get their picture taken with “Deputy Donut.”
“Every police officer in the United States should feel proud knowing that terms used by folks to be negative to police can be made into a positive, raising money for children in need,” said Goodin.
