The Austin Fireworks display on the grounds of Austin High School/Middle School has been set for on Friday night, July 2. The event is traditionally held the Friday before July 4th, giving families and friends a chance to celebrate Independence Day a little early.
Several donors help to make this event possible each year and several booths will be set up by selected, non-profit groups and school related organizations.
Food booths will be operated by the Austin Volunteer Fire Department, Austin Lions Club, and the Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
Booths will open by 6 p.m. on the east side of the high schoool/middle school building. Any vendors interested in setting up a booth should contact the Mayor’s office to obtain an entry form.
Free entertainment will fill the hours prior to the fireworks. The music lineup is planned by Ray Bowling.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the fireworks comfortably.
Parking will be available in front of the school building and some parking will be available on the east side of the complex. Parking that is normally available at the elementary school will not be available this year due to the construction taking place.
