It was a typical June weekend—hazy, hot, humid and an occasional shower—for the 40th Red, White & Blue Festival in Crothersville.
“The fireworks were even better than last year,” said festival director Sherry Bridges. “Folks were cheering during the show.
“The Thursday and Friday attendance was down due to 90° temperatures. Saturday night numbers were way up. Over all it was a great festival as we celebrated our 40th festival,” she said.
Bill Brumett of Crothersville was honored during the Thursday opening ceremonies as a World War II Veteran. He said being able to participate in the remembrance ceremony with the Indiana Guard Reserve from Indianapolis brought back many fond memories of his days in the Navy.
Logen O’Sullivan, son of Robert & Susan O’Sullivan and Destiny Lawrence, daughter of Terry & Barbara Prine, were crown this year’s festival Prince & Princess. First runners-up were Jacob Defibaugh and Karley Gillis and seond runners-up were Cole Reed & Eliana Collman.
Destiny Lawrence did double duty winning the youth division of the opening night’s talent show. Kaitlyn Muldrea won the teen talent division and Shea Seal won the adult division competition.
The baby contest again proved to be a popular event with area parents.
Named the most patriotic boy was Blaine Lewis, 2nd was Brantly Lewis and 3rd was Tristyn Campbell. Most Patriotic girl was Caitlyn Morrison, 2nd, Kinsley Markel and 3rd, Kyleigh Peacock.
