A total of 33 properties were sold last week for unpaid property taxes during the annual Delinquent Tax Sale held at the courthouse last Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Eight of those properties were in Crothersville and Vernon Township.
Indiana law provides that the county can offer for sale at an auction properties on which property taxes have not been paid for over 18 months.
Properties were offered with the beginning bid being the amount of taxes owed. Owners of property sold at the tax sale have the opportunity to redeem their property within a year from the tax sale.
A total of $66,288.58 in delinquent taxes were paid with over $496,000 placed in the county’s surplus tax account
The nine successful bidders included:
