Indiana law allows for properties that have delinquent taxes for more than 18 months can be sold at auction to pay the taxes. After any sale, owners of the property have a year to redeem or repay the auction purchaser in order to keep their property.
If the owners redeem their property within the first six months of the tax sale, auction purchasers can earn 10% interest on the delinquent tax paid. After six months to redeem the property the owner would have to pay 15%.
Owners of properties with delinquent taxes can pay the back taxes and have their property removed from the tax sale.
