Within the last couple of months, homes, outbuilding and automobiles around the Hardy Lake area of Scott County, have been getting burglarized. “Within this time there have been seven burglaries and thefts alone. Within the last month there have been two major burglaries,” according to Sgt. Jerry Goodin of the Indiana State Police.
One of the burglaries on Whitsitt Road had a Yanmar tractor, Craftsman lawn mower and an Encore “Zero Turn” lawn mower taken. Along with the tractor and mowers a power washer, garden tiller and numerous other hand tools were taken. Another recent burglary literally just around the corner from the Whitsitt Road address on Peacock Road had several guns, money and jewelry taken, Goodin said.
Taken at the Peacock Road burglary were a Remington Model 1100 20 gauge shotgun, Mossberg Model 9200 12 gauge shotgun, Ruger Model 1022 .22 caliber with scope, Ruger, .45 caliber, pistol, stainless steel, with a black holster and second magazine, plastic zip lock bag containing about $300 in coins, a half karat diamond, and numerous, necklaces, bracelets, ear rings.
Investigators at the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg are seeking to talk to anyone who may have information on the burglaries or the stolen property.
