The deadline for anyone wanting to register to vote or to transfer their registration to a new address is next Monday, Oct. 6, according to Jackson County Clerk Sarah Benter.
Voter registration and change of address documents are available from the clerk’s office in Brownstown.
Beginning Oct. 6, absentee voting will begin in Brownstown. Any registered voter who will not be in their home precinct on election day, Nov. 4, can go to the courthouse to vote an absentee ballot.
In Brownstown absentee ballots can be cast from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The board will also be open two Saturday’s, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Beginning Oct., 20 in Seymour absentee ballots can be cast at the Seymour Community Center, 107 S. Chestnut Street, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Seymour board will be open two Saturdays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A traveling absentee board will be working the last two weeks prior to the election and shut-in voters can contact the Jackson county Voter Registration office at 358-6120 to make arrangements.
Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls for the November election can also vote by mail. To request an absentee ballot contact the county Voter Registration Office at 358-7120.
