Brian Hardy, 2011 United Way Day of Caring Chair, met with committee members to assign projects for this year’s event which will be held Tuesday May 10. Volunteers are still needed to support requested projects for the 15th annual countywide Jackson County United Way Day of Caring.
Committee members reviewed projects, volunteers, and needed supplies and began assigning work projects.
Projects that have been requested to date include:
Seymour Main Street, 10-15 volunteers to paint & clean basement, garage & upstairs;
Jackson Co. History Center, 4-6 (men, if possible) for moving items from warehouse (includes lifting);
Starve Hollow, 15+ volunteers for cleaning, gardening, painting, etc;
Maumee, 10+ volunteers for fence repair, building and shelter clean-up
Head Start, 5 volunteers to sand & paint playground, paint inside
Child Care Network, 6 volunteers to construct and build garden;
Freeman Army Air Field, 4 volunteers to build bookshelves;
Freeman Army Air Field, 5 volunteers to move exhibits
Mental Health America-Elm St., 3 or 4 volunteers for yard clean up, washing windows, planting
MHA- Evergreen Dr., 3 or 4 volunteers for yard clean up, washing windows, planting;
MHA- Lancelot, 3 or 4 volunteers for yard clean up, washing windows, planting;
MHA- office at CAB, 3 or 4volunteers for wrapping gifts for Christmas Gift List
Crothersville volunteers to construct a handicap ramp for house
Girls Inc, 15-20 volunteers to wash windows, clean van, gym mats, outside work
Medora, need volunteers to construct two ramps
Volunteer employee groups or service clubs who have already agreed to help are: Housing Partnerships, Inc.; Wal-Mart Distribution; Seymour Kiwanis, Jackson County Public Library, Jackson County Bank, Masonic Lodge #146, Masonic Lodge #328; Valeo Sylvania, Blue & Co, LLC; Schneck Medical Center, SIHO, Cummins Seymour Engine Plant.
Monetary donations are still needed to support some of the work being done for individuals qualified by local agencies. These projects include 3 ramps for individuals in Medora and Crothersville.
Agencies having work done will provide materials and snacks and a noon meal for volunteers assigned to those locations.
