Shirley Robinett of Crothersville laid claim to the first ripe tomato last Wednesday, June 13, at noon.
She said she didn’t really plan on early tomatoes when she planted a couple of plants next to her Bard Street residence. “I saw something red and wondered what it was,” she said. “I was surprised to find it was a ripe tomato this early.”
Robinett can now lay claim to official first ripe tomato bragging rights.
