Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies continued their focus on curtailing illegal drug usage and dealing by taking seven to jail on numerous charges.
On Thursday, Feb. 28, Scott County Sheriff’s deputies received a tip about drug activity at a residence in Austin. Scott County deputies with the assistance of Indiana State Police went to the Mann Avenue residence and spoke with Don King, 31, of Austin.
After questioning and searching the residence, King was taken into custody and charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance.
That same day deputies served an arrest warrant on Kenneth Wayne Davis, 51, of Broadway Street in Austin. The warrant stemmed from arrests and a search of the residence that was conducted earlier on Monday. Davis was charged with maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.
On Monday, Feb. 25, a deputy with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the Scottsburg City Police Department on an investigation when he recognized a vehicle believed to be involved in the investigation.
According to Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin, as the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled south eventually crashing on Brownstown Road in Clark County. The driver of the vehicle, Daniel E. Blevins, 32 of Zollman Road in Henryville, was taken into custody.
He was later transported to the Scott County Jail where he was charged with criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, and reckless driving
Also on Monday, an ongoing investigation led Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Austin Police Department to a residence on Broadway in Austin.
A search warrant was served at the residence of Billy Gene Davis, age 55. He was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.
Mindy Combs-White, 38, also a resident at that address, was arrested for possession of controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of methamphetamine.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, a Scott County deputy stopped a bicycle at the intersection of Mann Avenue and Factory Drive, in Austin. After questioning, Jeffrey W. Vest, 28, of Scottsburg, was arrested for the possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
On Friday, Feb. 22, a Scott County deputy made a traffic stop near US 31 and Frame Street in Scottsburg. After questioning, the driver of the vehicle Kristopher E. Akers, 18 of Columbus was charged with driving under the influence possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia.
Deputies involved in the arrests included, Paul Clute, Joe Johnson, James Shelton, Bobby Thompson, according to Goodin’s report.
