A Scottsburg woman was seriously injured Saturday when she was accidentally shot while target shooting in southern Scott County, according to investigators with the Indiana State Police.
Betty Jo Daniel, 50, was target shooting with relatives near Underwood around 5:30 p.m. when the handgun she was using reportedly jammed.
She handed the weapon to another family member to un-jamb and when the family member cleared the weapon, it went off striking Daniel.
She was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital by air ambulance and reported in serious condition, authorities said.
