Schneck Medical Accepting Applications For Dr. ‘Bud’, George James Scholarships

Schneck Medical Center is now accepting applications for two scholarship programs for students intending on entering the medical career.

The Dr. Bud Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. H.P. ‘Bud’ Graessle (1893-1977). Born in Seymour, Dr. Graessle was a practicing physician and surgeon for 53 years until his retirement in 1971.

Candidates who are interested in pursuing a course of study to become a Registered Nurse are encouraged to apply for consideration. Acceptance for enrollment at a nursing school is required for the scholarship to be officially awarded.

Applications for the Dr. Bud Scholarship are available in the Administration Office at Schneck Medical Center or at www.schneckmed.org. The application must be completed in its entirety and returned to Schneck Medical Center on or before March 15, 2009, to be eligible for consideration.

The George H. James, Jr. Scholarship was established in honor of George H. James, Jr. for his 33 years of dedicated service to Schneck Medical Center. Born in Kentucky, Mr. James became President/CEO of Schneck Medical Center in 1968 and retired in 2001. Throughout his 33 years, James had a passion for physician recruiting and has recruited numerous physicians to Schneck.

Candidates who are enrolled in a medical school are welcome to apply for consideration. Primary consideration will be given to Jackson and Jennings county residents who intend to practice medicine in Jackson and Jennings counties.
