NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS OF ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS

Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of Jackson County, Indiana, that the proper legal officer of Jackson County at their regular meeting place at Jackson County Courthouse Annex, at 6:00 p.m. on the 15th day of June, 2016, will consider the following appropriations in excess of the budget for the current year.

Taxpayers appearing at the meeting shall have a right to be heard.  The additional appropriations as finally made will be referred to the Department of local Government Finance (DLGF). The DLGF will make a written determination as to the sufficiency of funds to support the appropriations made within fifteen (15) days of receipt of a Certified Copy of the action taken.

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

Hearing on a Proposed Cumulative Firefighting Building & Equipment Fund

Notice is hereby given to the Taxpayers of Vernon Township Fire Protection District located in Jackson County, Indiana, that the Vernon Township Fire Protection District Board will meet at 200 Moore Street in Crothersville on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 9:00 AM.

The purpose of the meeting is to consider the establishment of a Cumulative Firefighting Building & Equipment Fund under the provisions of Indiana Code 36-8-14. The purpose of the fund is purchase of firefighting equipment and other legal uses as set out in IC 36-8-14.

The tax will be levied on all taxable real and personal property within the taxing district and will not exceed three and thirty-three one hundreths (0.0333) per $100 of assessed valuation. The proposed fund will be levied beginning in 2016 with tax payable in 2017. Taxpayers appearing at the hearing shall have a right to be heard thereon.

The proposal for the establishment of the Cumulative Firefighting Building & Equipment Fund is subject to approval of the Department of Local Government Finance.

Within thirty (30) days after the date of adoption of the cumulative fund, the Vernon Township Fire Protection District President will publish a Notice of Adoption.

Upon publication of the Notice of Adoption, Ten (10) or more taxpayers in the taxing district may file a petition with the County Auditor not later than noon thirty (30) days after the publication of the Notice of Adoption setting forth their objections to the proposed tax levy.

PUBLIC NOTICE

On May 3, 2016, Town Council of the Town of Crothersville, Indiana passed the ordinance printed below. This ordinance includes the penalties designated in the Crothersville Town Code.

ORDINANCE NO. 2016 – 2

(2016)

“An ordinance amending the Traffic Code of the Town of Crothersville, Jackson County, Indiana.”

WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Crothersville, Indiana has previously established regulations for stop intersections on local streets in the Town of Crothersville, Indiana; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Crothersville, Indiana seeks to amend the schedule of stop intersections (Chapter 71, Schedule III, “Stop Intersections”).

NOW, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CROTHERSVILLE, INDIANA:

Section 1: Chapter 71, Schedule III, “Stop Intersections” is hereby amended to read as follows:

The following intersection is hereby designated as a three-way stop intersection: Kovener Street southbound at Benham Avenue eastbound,

and Industrial Way northbound

Section 2: Should any section, paragraph, clause, or phrase of this ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid, the remainder of said ordinance shall continue in full force and effect.

Section 3: All prior ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, publication, and approval by the Town Council, all as by law provided.
