Acting on a tip last Thursday March 19, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post learned that Taria Riley of Scottsburg was going to receive approximately 20 lbs. of marijuana.
The marijuana was going to be delivered to a residence on Whitsitt Road in Scott County. Troopers along with a Charlestown City Police Officer, United States Postal Inspectors and Agents from the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force began surveillance on the residence late Thursday afternoon.
After the marijuana was delivered to the residence, police conducted a search of the home. During the search, officers confiscated approximately twenty pounds of processed marijuana.
The street value of the confiscated marijuana is over $24,000 police said.
Troopers also located an identification card being used by Taria Riley that wasn’t hers. The identification card was used to allegedly register an automobile and rent a motel room.
Arrested were Fortunato Lopez Jr., 33, McAllen, TX, for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver over 10 Pounds and Taria L. Riley, 27, of Scottsburg, for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver over 10 pounds and Identification Theft.
Both were incarcerated in the Scott County Jail.
