A truck carrying new BMW automobiles caught fire Thursday evening which closed a portion of northbound I-65 and traffic detouring the accident scene caused traffic back-ups in Crothersville.
The Crothersville-Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to near the 41 mile marker at Uniontown at 7:39 p.m. when a 2006 Peterbilt tractor-trailer hauling seven new BMW cars caught fire.
_There were no injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was Jeffrey S. Diskin from El Paso, Texas, who was driving for Sierra Mountain Express Inc., police reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
One lane of I-65 was closed for a time Friday morning for removal of the vehicles. The road re-opened to traffic at about noon.
