The Crothersville Town Players will present ‘Cornfield Comedy Hour’ this Friday & Saturday at Hamacher Hall in Crothersville.
Cornfield Comedy is a director’s take on a popular 1970’s television variety show that was centered on rural Southern culture.
The show will feature rural comedy skits and country music from local Bluegrass duo Rice Street, consisting of musicians Sherrell Street and Marion Rice.
“They are a colorful cast of characters to work with,” said Theater Director, Marcia Fleetwood. “For this production, the group has the added task of forming a ‘kitchen band’.”
The Crothersville cast includes Brenda Holzworth, Linda Seals, Eunice Lacey, Alexandra Smith, Bill Nagle, Sandy Law, Jessie Law, Brayden Growe, Brenda Bradley, Cristy Bush, Carol Altepeter, and Dorothy Rice.
The doors will open each evening at 6 p.m. with the program slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The dinner is being catered by volunteers and will include: Garden Salad, Country Fried Steak with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Buttered Corn, Southern Style Biscuit, Assorted Desserts, Iced Tea, Lemonade.
Tickets are being sold for table seating and the tables will be decorated by area businesses, clubs and groups.  Each table setting will include free gifts and specialty items from the table sponsor.
Tickets are available for purchase now at a cost of $15 for the 3-course meal, live performance theater and gifts from sponsored tables. Seats are limited, so persons wishing to attend are urged to secure their tickets early.
The playhouse for the Crothersville Town Players is located at Hamacher Hall, 211 East Howard Street. The Dinner Theater is a fund raising event to support the current and future needs of the Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association. Memberships are available and tax deductible contributions tp the 501c3 group are gladly accepted.
