A Crothersville man received two stab wounds as a result of an altercation near Underwood early Friday Morning.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, March 22, Indiana State Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 210 West County Line Road in Scott County. When troopers arrived they encountered the victim, Jeffery Campbell, 39, from Crothersville, who had received at least two stab wounds. He was immediately transported to the Scott Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries by Scott County EMS.
The person who allegedly did the stabbing, William Carl Bryant, 47, of Scottsburg, fled the scene before officers arrived but was located quickly a couple hundred yards from where the crime occurred by a deputy from Scott County Sheriff’s Department.
The stabbing was alleged to have occurred after an argument broke out between Campbell and Bryant who were socializing at the residence with others.
Bryant was arrested and incarcerated at the Scott County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Battery and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
